Why this program is important
The Honors College at Rutgers University–Newark is a hub for excellence in education, undergraduate research, and applied learning. We have a diverse cohort of more than 130 students. As part of an interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum, Honors College courses challenge our students to embrace advanced engagement with and research in the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Our program culminates with a yearlong thesis project in which honors students produce original scholarship.
Your gift to Honors College-Newark Experiential Learning ensures learning beyond the classroom walls. It includes concrete experiences such as internships, study abroad, and research. The Honors College seeks to provide such learning experiences to include both hands-on and critical reflection.
What your donation makes possible
We seek to grow an experiential learning fund to offer programming beyond the classroom that will foster intellectual and social growth. This fund would allow students to participate in internships, travel abroad opportunities, and research by covering expenses students might not afford, such program fees, travel, and room and board.
Why your generosity is vital to Academic Excellence and our Beloved Community
We are committed to driving inclusive access for students to Rutgers with an aspiration to be the national model for outstanding academic programs, social mobility and educational equity with purposeful and timely degree completion, career preparation and lifelong learning.
We believe in building a university culture committed to
respect for one another and working together to embody, reflect and appreciate
the complexity of all our parts, and we believe in enabling active citizenship,
recognizing we all have a role in sustaining our democracy and engaging fully
in the growing diversity of our state and country. We endeavor to instill in
our students a commitment to community through service and experiences that
contribute to a greater understanding of themselves and others, support their
whole person while students at Rutgers and provide meaningful engagement
post-graduation.
